I don't know how long I knelt in that buried tomb, whispering my prayer to Bast in the dark, but either my air ran out or I'd gotten some kind of head injury when I'd hit the floor, because eventually I became light-headed and finally passed out. It seemed my prayers had been heard, though. When I came to, I was lying in a soft bed, surrounded by a gentle glow, like softly diffused sunlight, with the soothing scent of water lily floating on the cool air. The atmosphere of this peaceful place was like that of a new, spring morning, right at the peak of sunrise.
